PSR DEIB Training: Barriers to Employment & Reasonable Adjustments
07/02/2025
As part of our ongoing commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEIB) and our wider Social Value programme, we provide quarterly DEIB webinar training for all PSR team members, focusing on key topics that empower our teams to better support individuals at every stage of the recruitment journey—from application to onboarding.
Our latest session, “Reasonable Adjustments & Barriers to Employment,” was hosted by Adam Hyland, Chief Inclusion Officer at Evenbreak, a valued partner within the AMS Diversity & Inclusion Alliance.
The session emphasised shifting from the medical model (which sees disability as an individual’s issue) to the social model, which identifies barriers in society as the main issue. Society needs to be adapted to enable disabled people to participate fully, rather than expecting individuals to “overcome” challenges.
Adam shared a powerful reminder: “It’s more important to have conversations about Disability than to worry about getting the language wrong.”
